Gaithersburg, MD (PRWEB) January 04, 2012
On Monday, January 9, M&T Bank will open another signature eco-friendly branch in Maryland with the opening of the Diamond Farms location in Gaithersburg, located at 5 Bank Street across from the National Institute of Standards and Technology.
“Our new Diamond Farms office is a great enhancement to our extensive branch network in Montgomery County and it’s also friendly to the environment,” said Stephen Heine, M&T Bank’s Greater Washington Market Manager. “We believe our customers will enjoy the modern look and feel of the branch while we all will benefit from the reduction of our carbon footprint.”
The contemporary look of the new M&T branch fuses traditional bank design with environmentally friendly elements. A signature look of the architectural design is the colonnade with high canopy intended to reduce direct sunlight into the branch.
The branch was constructed to Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design standards (LEED) established by the U.S. Green Building Council and includes a number of environmentally friendly features to make it a more comfortable place for customers to bank and employees to work including:
- Natural light is used extensively, including a large skylight in the middle of the main lobby. All glazing contains Low-E (Low Emissivity) coatings reducing solar heat gain.
- Roof Assembly consists of super insulated cavity with solar reflective roofing membrane.
- Interior lighting uses a combination of energy efficient fluorescent lamps, ceramic metal halide lamps, and light emitting diodes (LED's).
- Heating and cooling is provided by high efficiency gas-fired hot water boilers and roof top units.
- The building skin is clad with a composite panel system that contains up to 70% recycled content.
The project was designed by architect Lorenzo Apicella of the international design firm Pentagram. The architect of record is Ammon Heisler Sachs Architects, PC of Baltimore, and the builder was MK Specialty Contracts Group of Frederick.
Branch manager Carol Carter will lead a team of experienced professionals who will work to understand customers’ unique needs and deliver personalized solutions through the bank’s full product line. Business clients can meet with Carter or business banker, John Halley, to discuss a customized strategy for meeting their financial goals.
The branch is also equipped with traditional features, including two drive-up lanes, an ATM, safe deposit boxes and a night depository.
Customers can visit M&T’s new location from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Friday and 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The branch’s drive-up lanes are accessible from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday and 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
