Telefonica Begins Launch of Movius' Second Line Mobile Service

Telefonica of Mexico is first carrier to deploy innovative Side-Line™ Service, Users will have more than one line from the same device.

Movius Interactive Corporation, a global leader in unified communications solutions, announced today that Telefonica Mexico has become the first international mobile operator to deploy its innovative Side-Line Service – which gives users the chance to operate more than one line from a single device.

Telefonica Mexico, which operates on behalf of Telefonica under the Movistar brand, has more than 21 million customers across the country and has been widely acclaimed for developing and introducing new products, as well as delivering reliable national coverage and excellent levels of customer service.

It is worth noting that with the rise in Latin American mobile service phone use, many subscribers are opting to purchase multiple phone numbers to separate their business and personal mobile use. Until now, subscribers have had to purchase a separate service for each new phone number, forcing them to carry multiple handset devices. Newer multi-SIM phones have emerged, but these are often inconvenient and complex to use. Movius’ Side-Line Service solves this problem by offering the user a cost-effective second line. With this service, each phone number can be used independently to place and receive calls, as well as SMS messages. Incoming calls can be dynamically directed to the primary mobile phone number or to a voice messaging system.

Other countries where Telefonica operates will follow Mexico’s lead shortly as part of Movius’ multi-year, multi-national agreement with Telefonica International, which covers 13 of Telefonica’s mobile operations across Latin America.
