Symmetry Electronics, a leader in design-oriented semiconductor distribution, has announced a distribution agreement to supply and support Dialog Semiconductor’s range of radio transceiver ICs for 1.7, 1.9, 2.4 and 5.8GHz applications, including SmartPulse™, the world’s first commercially available DECT Ultra Low Energy (ULE) devices. The distribution agreement enables Symmetry to provide leading support for real time wireless voice and data solutions based on Dialog’s products to its customers in the Americas.

Dialog’s short range wireless ICs deliver significant efficiency enhancements and enable consumer products to benefit from improved battery life. Dialog’s devices are at the forefront of technology; feature in DECT phones through wireless headsets to game console controllers; and bring the benefits of wireless networking to new markets. The company’s newest SmartPulse wireless devices enable a variety of novel applications including home automation, healthcare, security and energy monitoring consumer applications.

“Symmetry’s focus is on providing technical/design support of the highest quality and delivering innovative solutions that surpass the expectations of design engineers, and Dialog’s products introduce wireless technology to an immeasurable number of new markets. For instance, Dialog’s 25x29mm CVM (cordless voice module) features innovative packaging that will allow Symmetry’s customers to build anything from cordless phones to feature-rich, wearable communication products,” says Gil Zaharoni, Symmetry Electronics CEO.

Dialog’s portfolio covers all versions of DECT, plus the 2.4 GHz DCT protocol. The company’s SmartPulse, ultra low energy wireless sensor network devices have been created with battery-powered applications in mind, operate in the 1.9GHz DECT frequency band, have a range of more than 50m indoors and 300m outdoors, are self-configuring and require no network planning. The devices can be simply and remotely managed via web connected smartphones, laptops or tablet PCs.

Anne Joubert, Director of Business Development at Dialog said: “We look for specialized distribution partners who can support our customers through all stages of the design in process. Symmetry’s sales footprint, field application expertise and logistics capabilities will help customers accelerate their design time and hence time-to-market for their products.”
Symmetry’s Electronics factory trained technology team is ready to help with Dialog Semiconductor product selection as well as design support for DECT projects.
