Sumoku 1.0 Free for iOS - Unique Crossword-Style Game with Numbers

Blue Orange Games and HagerApps introduce Sumoku 1.0 for iOS 5. Tiles numbered 1 to 9 in six colors are played on a crossword-style board. The goal is to play tiles in a vertical and horizontal arrangement, so the newly created line is a multiple of a randomly chosen key number (3, 4 or 5). For example, if the key number were 5, the new line could add up to 5, 10, 15, etc. The game is not only fun to play, it also helps master and retain math skills.

Blue Orange Games and HagerApps are pleased to introduce Sumoku 1.0 free for iOS 5, their new version of the popular addition Game played with 96 tiles and 1 die. Tiles are numbered from 1 to 9 and each is one of six colors. At the start of play, a key number is chosen randomly, which can be 3, 4, or 5. Players have 8 tiles each, and they try to achieve the maximum score each turn, placing tiles that must be played in a crossword style vertical and horizontal arrangement, so that the newly created row or column is a multiple of the key number. For example, if the key number were 5, the tiles played could add up to 5, 10, 15, 20, etc. Making the game particularly challenging, is the rule that two tiles of the same color cannot be used in a single vertical or horizontal line.

Pronounced soo-moh-koo', the term refers to pattern created by the tiles on the board. As in Scrabble-like games, winning requires careful thought and a bit of luck. Frequently, playing just one or two tiles that adds on to a previous row or column may be a player's best play. As a Bonus, each time a player creates or completes a line of all six different colors, they play again. Players resupply to the full complement of 8 tiles after each turn. Packed with endless challenges and perfect for sharpening math and problem-solving skills, Sumoku is proof that learning is fun.

Feature Highlights:

  • Fast, fun game for 2 to 5 players, ages 8 and older
  • Score points for playing tiles in a row or column whose sum is a multiple of the key number
  • Try it by playing with friends using Apple's Game Center
  • Penalty points at the end of the game for unplayed tiles
  • An international favorite finally comes to iOS mobile devices
  • Game can be played in less than 30 minutes when playing face-to-face
