Nearly 80 trial lawyers from top Florida law firms gathered together with VIP guests for the Manasota Trial Lawyers Board Dinner and Seminar hosted at the Polo Grill, in Lakewood Ranch, Florida.

The Manasota Trial Lawyers Board members gathered together to discuss a range of legal and political issues affecting both Floridians and the Florida justice system. The event, hosted by Manasota Trial Lawyers Board founder, Attorney Bernard F. Walsh of the Personal Injury Law Firm, Shapiro Goldman Babboni & Walsh, featured lectures from several Attorneys.

Topics of the lectures included; pending Florida legislative issues and how they will affect Florida trials, Mass tort cases and how to maximize effectiveness and referrals to support the plaintiff's case, and work done in 2011 within the Florida legislature as well as a speech given by Bernard Walsh on the rapid growth of the MTLB over 2011, its recent accomplishments, and the group’s priorities and goals for 2012.

Featured guest speakers at the event included: Fred Cunningham, President of the Florida Justice Association, a partner at Slawson, Cunningham, Whalen & Gaspari, who spoke about pending legislative issues with trial lawyers; Debra Henley, the Executive Director for the FJA spoke about her current work with the legislature. Attorney Troy Rafferty, Secretary with the Florida Justice Association, and Shareholder with Levin, Papantonio, Thomas, Mitchell, Rafferty & Proctor, P.A., spoke about Mass Tort, “How to maximize referrals and what to look for to further pursue a successful trial outcome for the plaintiff's case;” Attorney Thomas Harmon of Harmon, Woods, Parker, Hendricks & Abrunzo, P.A., spoke about maximizing traumatic brain injury cases.

In addition to the experienced and up and coming attorneys attending some notable guests at the event included: Bill Galvano, Florida House of Representatives, Ray Pilon, running for Florida House of Representatives, Fred Mercurio, running for Judge, 12th Circuit, Ed Brodksy, Chief Assistant State Attorney and running for State Attorney, and Keith Fitzgerald, currently running for Congress.

“The past year has been a phenomenal success for the Manasota Trial Lawyers Board. We have grown substantially both in membership and recognition over 2011 and created bonds with the Florida Justice Association furthering our reach and increasing our networking value to our members,” said MTLB founder Attorney Bernard Walsh. “Given the state of the economy in Florida and the nation as a whole, many local governments are under both financial and political pressure from corporate lobbyists able to take advantage of the financial burden to further their agendas at the consumers’ expense. As such, the MTLB is an asset with real and growing value for Floridians that rely on our justice system for protection.”
