OATI webDistribute Solution to Assist with Integrated Automated Dispatch Systems

Open Access Technology International, Inc. (OATI) is proud to announce a significant webDistribute project in California.

Burbank Water & Power (BWP) has selected OATI webDistribute to assist with its Smart Grid functions. This solution will assist BWP with its Integrated Automated Dispatch Systems (Integrated ADS).

Burbank will use OATI webDistribute to provide optimal scheduling, dispatch, and control of BWP’s generation resources, enhancements to the current power system control system, utility energy storage, and the coordination of resources at the customer premise. The system may also work with its largest customers in a cooperative demand management approach that will produce real savings. Given the increased share of intermittent renewable resources, such as wind, the Integrated ADS will enable BWP system operators to optimize system reliability while achieving the most economical supply portfolio to balance load and generation. This will help minimize inadvertent interchange with neighboring systems.

OATI webDistribute includes key components, including market price and LMP forecasting, for distributed energy and demand-side management, an automated dispatch function for supply and demand resources, and integration with wholesale trading, advanced metering, and automatic generation control (AGC) functions.

“Utilizing distributed and demand-side resources for improved system economics and balancing variable generation delivers high value,” said Dr. Sasan Mokhtari, President and CEO of OATI. “We look forward to working with BWP in realizing this value through the implementation of webDistribute.”

“This system will provide the tools and accountability to enable our power system staff to effectively schedule and dispatch power resources while attending to risk margins, economics, as well as environments goals and regulations while providing the documentation of the savings and benefits so necessary for effective management and public trust,” noted Fred Fletcher, BWP Assistant General Manager/Power Supply.
