Category One Helps NACS Members Gain Access to Robust, Cost-Effective Employment Screening Tools

NACS has leveraged the Category One e-procurement tools to offer NACS member companies an affordable, user-friendly employment screening solution.

The new service, negotiated by Category One and offered by LexisNexis, is specifically designed to streamline and simplify the screening and hiring process to NACS members — both retailers and suppliers — at a price that is substantially less than the rates that companies would be able to obtain on their own. To make the screening process easier for NACS members, LexisNexis offers pre-set background screening packages for key retail positions, based on the company’s deep experience within the retail industry.

Category One facilitated this program by linking NACS and LexisNexis Risk Solutions through its power sourcing reverse auction engine. Category One continues to expand its e-procurement solutions into services such as background checks as well as handling product sourcing requests. “We were pleased to work with NACS to create a program that will dramatically reduce the cost of background checks for the convenience and fuel retail industry,” said Brett Melvin, Category One Director.

The new program gives NACS members, regardless of size, access to the same high-quality background checks that are routinely used by national retail corporations.

“Screening for and hiring quality job applicants is critical to our industry, from delivering exceptional customer service to reducing shrink and waste,” said NACS Director of Products and Services Doug Spencer. “That impact is even more pronounced in smaller, independently run businesses that dominate our industry and makes this service especially relevant to many of our members.”

“Convenience and fuels retailers are focused on serving their customers and driving sales, not administrative details like background checks. That’s why we’re here — to lend expertise around employee-related risk and screening strategies,” said Joe Metro, director of retail screening for LexisNexis. “This program makes it easier than ever for NACS member companies to screen their employees. This program is customized to fit their needs at a price that they can only get through NACS.”
