"Guy Bruner offers our clients direct Operations, Accreditation, DOE, and INPO experience across all aspects of plant operations, human performance, root cause, corrective action, and safety culture,” says Ted Enos, CEO of Certrec.

Certrec, a leading regulatory licensing and compliance solutions provider, is pleased to announce that noted performance improvement expert - Guy Bruner - has joined the firm as the Director of Certrec’s Office of Performance Improvement.

Certrec’s Office of Performance Improvement (OPI) provides Chief Nuclear Officers with Problem Identification, Corrective Action, Safety Culture Assessment, Regulatory Strategy, 9500X Recovery, Communications Planning, Inspection Preparation, and Effectiveness Monitoring to address cross-cutting issues.

“Having a 35 year industry veteran like Guy Bruner join our team as Director of our Office of Performance Improvement is very exciting,” says Ted Enos, CEO of Certrec. “People in the industry recognize that Guy has an extensive track record with direct Operations, Accreditation, DOE, and INPO experience across all aspects of effective plant operations, human performance, root cause, corrective action, and safety culture.”

Prior to joining Certrec, Guy Bruner was with The Institute of Nuclear Power Operations (INPO) for 25 years. In that time he handled more than 100 plant evaluations and accreditation team visits of utility operations and technical training programs at plants as diverse as Fermi, Waterford, San Onofre, Wolf Creek, and Monticello. He was the INPO liaison to the DOE for three years and provided direct assistance to many of the national laboratories to improve human performance. Twice, Mr. Bruner was loaned by INPO to utilities to manage a training and a planning and scheduling department before finishing his INPO career as a Senior Representative.

Mr. Bruner has also supervised startup, normal, outage refueling, and plant upset operations for a number of generation facilities. Having developed nuclear operating, emergency, abnormal, and surveillance procedures, he effectively managed the completion of one of the most technically complex, expensive, and lengthy nuclear plant outages in a generating plant’s history. Plant reliability measurably increased under his guidance. Additionally, Guy has been team lead for multiple safety tagging and performance improvement root cause initiatives seeking to identify gaps in performance, change behaviors, and improve human performance.

“I am excited to be leading Certrec’s performance improvement team,” says Bruner. “In addition to our performance improvement services, many of our team members have training and accreditation, licensing, regulatory communications, NRC inspection, and performance monitoring expertise. This cross-cutting knowledge is unparalleled in our industry.”
