Canadian Manufacturer of Specialized Power Transmission Equipment will use BuyDesign to Streamline Configure-Price-Quote (CPQ) Processes

TDCI Inc. (TDCI), the leading provider of configurator-based software, announced today that Van der Graaf, a Toronto-based manufacturer of specialized power transmission equipment, has selected TDCI’s BuyDesign Product Configurator and Guided Selling software to streamline and standardize the company’s sales quoting and ordering processes.

BuyDesign is a comprehensive configure-price-quote (CPQ) solution developed to streamline the sales process for customized products. BuyDesign helps companies that manufacture products with a wide range of features, options, and dimensions increase sales by becoming ‘easy to do business with’ while at the same time reducing order processing time, cost, and errors.

“We selected BuyDesign as our new generation sales quoting system because we anticipate it will provide us with sophisticated and standardized configuration, pricing, and proposal generation capabilities while being highly intuitive and easy to use for sales people,” said Wan Lin, Customer Service Manager. “Furthermore, we expect BuyDesign will enable us to provide our customers with accurate and complete quotes in less time, and with less need to draw on engineering resources.”

Another reason Van der Graaf chose BuyDesign is that once it is fully implemented, the ease with which configuration models can be developed and maintained. “The rules for how our drum motors can be configured are quite complex,” said Pedro Marques, Van der Graaf IT/Systems Administrator “It was a challenge to keep our old configuration system up to date with product changes, but BuyDesign provides a straight-forward graphic environment that makes that much easier. BuyDesign will enable us to reduce time to market for product innovations and more rapidly incorporate product and pricing changes into the quoting process.”

Van der Graaf has licensed BuyDesign Configurator, BuyDesign Channel Sales, BuyDesign Flex2D, BuyDesign Flex3D, and BuyDesign FlexDocs. BuyDesign will be integrated with Van der Graaf’s existing Visual Manufacturing ERP system and SolidWorks 3D CAD system. Training and implementation services will be provided by TDCI along with Toronto-based TDCI partner, Sabre IT Services. Partial funding for training is being provided by the AIME program sponsored by the Yves Landry Foundation
