Moonblink Communications, a value-added distributor delivering wireless and video surveillance solutions, today announced that Mercury Wireless has successfully deployed licensed Point-to-Point (PtP) wireless backhaul to increase the capacity of its network in Topeka, KS. Together, Moonblink and Mercury Wireless selected Proxim Wireless’ Tsunami® GX-800 licensed wireless backhaul solution to easily and cost-effectively increase the capacity of Mercury’s network.

“Online video services like Netflix and Hulu are dramatically increasing the demand on today’s networks, but Internet subscribers want the same level of service without an increase in cost,” said Garrett Wiseman, President of Mercury Wireless. “In order to cost-effectively increase the capacity of our network to support this greater demand, we approached Moonblink, who helped us review our options. We ultimately selected Proxim’s Tsunami GX-800 because it provided the best megabit-per-dollar value on the market.”

Mercury Wireless has worked with Moonblink for years, and selected Moonblink as its preferred business partner again due to a long track record of success together. Mercury Wireless and Moonblink reviewed many PtP wireless backhaul options, but ultimately selected Proxim’s Tsunami GX-800 for its price and performance benefits.

Proxim’s Tsunami GX800 is a licensed microwave PtP link that provides up to 622Mbps aggregate throughput with ultra low latency, offering high capacity and reliability for carriers, service providers and enterprise markets. After evaluating its needs, Mercury Wireless and Moonblink determined that a licensed solution was needed because there was too much interference in the unlicensed bands.

“With Moonblink’s help, the deployment took place with no issues whatsoever. The Proxim Tsunami GX-800 was very easy to install, with no pre-configuration required at all,” said Wiseman. “That, paired with Moonblink’s technical resources and knowledge of wireless backhaul products, made the entire process simple and seamless.”

Today, the Proxim Tsunami GX-800 is delivering over 600Mbps at over 12 miles for Mercury Wireless’ network in Topeka. Moving forward, Mercury Wireless will be standardizing on the Tsunami GX-800 whenever capacity increases are needed.
