Within the pages of Althea Greenidge’s new book, Prayers for People Who Do Dangerous Jobs ($10.99, paperback, 978-1-61904-282-7; $17.99, hardcover, 978-1-61904-283-4), she has passionately taken the time to put together several prayers for the specific purpose of protecting those whose jobs carry with them some measure of danger. From ice road truckers to people serving in the armed forces, at any moment, there is certain level of danger. Some believe rubbing a “lucky” rabbit foot will keep them safe, but Greenidge knows the only true care comes from the Lord as he watches over all of His children. The author’s purpose for this book is to serve as a reminder that there is nothing too great or too small to ask of God.

“A while back I was watching a television program about long-haul truckers. It struck me while watching just how much more dangerous the job becomes in the winter when roads freeze, becoming slick and slippery under the tonnage of the huge vehicles and also when the truckers have to drive in countries with dangerous bridges and narrow, poorly paved, precipitous roads,” states the author. “It was at that point I had the idea to write this book of prayers, which are a more reliable substitute than the foot of a dead animal when protection is called for. It is my hope that more people come to know the saving and protective grace of God.”

Althea Greenidge currently resides in the United Kingdom. She recently graduated from Bible College and is a member of her church. Greenidge’s main focus is helping others realize just how powerful prayer can be.
