AIA Announces 8th Annual February Frenzy

In association with the premier venues in the state, the AIA is proud to announce the 8th annual February Frenzy featuring basketball, soccer, spiritline, and wrestling.

“The AIA is very excited to be working with major venues like Jobing.com Arena, Grand Canyon University, Arizona State University, Northern Arizona University, and Tim’s Toyota Center, in hosting the 2012 February Frenzy,” Chuck Schmidt, AIA Assistant Executive Director and Chief Operations Officer said, “The AIA looks forward to these events and giving our student athletes the opportunity to compete in wonderful venues.”

Feb. 4 will see the first champions crowned of the winter tournament season with the AIA State Spiritline Championships taking place at Tim’s Toyota Center in Prescott Valley.

The AIA Division I through III State Soccer Tournaments begin at the end of January and conclude with championships on Feb. 10 and 11 at Campo Verde High School.

For the second straight year the AIA State Wrestling Tournament will be held at Tim’s Toyota Center beginning Feb. 9. The Division III and IV finals will take place on Feb. 10 at 7:30 p.m., and the Division II and I finals will be held on Feb. 11 at 4:30 p.m. as part of six sessions of competition.

The AIA Sectional Basketball Tournaments will all be held the week of Feb. 6, with sectional tournament championships concluding Feb. 9 through Feb. 11.

The AIA State Basketball Tournaments begin Feb. 11 with Division IV tournaments in Prescott, and continue until the championship events on Feb. 25, when eight championship teams will be crowned in Division I through Division IV at Jobing.com Arena and Tim’s Toyota Center.

“With the new division format, this is looking to be one of the most competitive months in the history of February Frenzy,” Harold Slemmer, AIA Executive Director, said. “We look forward to the tournaments and wish all the schools involved success.”
