Reno, NV (PRWEB) January 13, 2012
During the first season of Storage Wars, A&E’s hit reality television series, Dave Hester purchased a storage unit containing thousands of bundles of newspapers dated August 17, 1977, the day after Elvis Presley passed away. The bundles included a copy of the Memphis Press-Scimitar's special edition dated August 17, 1977 as well as a copy of Commercial Appeal. According to the Elvis expert featured on the Storage Wars episode, the Commercial Appeal was the original newspaper printed the morning following Elvis' death, while the special edition by Scimitar was printed in a special five day event following his death. StorageTreasures.com is making originals of these Elvis newspapers available via the company’s website and Facebook page throughout January and February. Members are encouraged to check the StorageTreasures.com website and Facebook page for more details on how to enter to win a piece of history.
“From the day A&E aired the Storage Wars episode featuring Dave Hester’s discovery of thousands of these newspapers the interest was huge, and it continues to be quite strong.” StorageTreasures President and Founder Lance Watkins continued, “We have had hundreds of requests for these newspapers, and since Dave Hester was kind enough to supply a batch of them to us, we have been able to make them available as part of member contests and giveaways almost on a weekly basis. We have also been able to allow the general public to purchase a copy on the site as a collector’s item or gift. Dan Dotson has autographed a number of copies, so we’ve also made those available to our members as well.”
