Norma McCorvey once took a stand for women's right to choose abortion in the monumental 1973 Supreme Court Case of Roe vs. Wade. After a change of heart, today Norma is taking a stand to protect life - the theme of her cameo film debut in the upcoming feature film "Doonby"

Norma McCorvey, the JANE ROE who made world history as the plaintiff in the 1973 Roe vs. Wade Supreme Court case which legalized abortion, is today fighting to protect life in any way possible, including accepting a brief cameo in an upcoming feature film called Doonby.

In this mystery drama, McCorvey plays Nancy Thurber who helps unravel the truth about the life of Sam Doonby (John Schneider, “Dukes of Hazzard,” “Smallville”), a drifter who suddenly appears in a small Texas town. Despite being the woman who in real life was responsible for winning for women the “right to choose,” McCorvey’s character in Doonby tries to talk a young woman (Erin Way) out of having the procedure.

“The raw and emotional performance produced authentic tension,” noted John Mark Reynolds of Washingtonpost.com. “McCorvey incarnates American ambivalence toward abortion. First she sided with choice and later with life. Her experience gives power to this fine film."

British writer/director Peter Mackenzie takes the audience on a journey of intrigue and suspense as Sam Doonby’s past begins to unravel from the moment he accepts a job in the town. But, it is McCorvey’s character, Nancy, who is pivotal as locals seek to understand and accept the truth about the stranger among them.

“I wasn’t seeking out an acting role, but after I read the script I knew I had to play Nancy because it seemed to have been written especially for me," said McCorvey, a first-time actor. “I understand the role that I've played in history in my first act and this is my second act. The message of the film is something we can all agree on: every human life has value, promise and meaning.”

Early reviews of the inspiring story comment on the influences of “It’s a Wonderful Life,” "The Sixth Sense" and J.B. Priestley's "An Inspector Calls" with its riveting final twist.

McCorvey joins leading cast members Schneider, Robert Davi (“Goonies,” “Criminal Minds”), Jenn Gotzon (“Frost/Nixon”), Ernie Hudson (“Ghostbusters,” “The Secret Life of an American Teenager”), Jennifer O’Neill (“Summer of ‘42”), Joe Estevez (“A Perfect Life,” “Insignificant Celluloid”) and Will Wallace (“The Tree of Life,” “The Thin Red Line”).

The film will be opening for sneak peek screenings in several markets on February 10th and 17th, including Dallas, TX, Hattiesburg, Meridian and Jackson, MS and Chattanooga TN and is expected to release widely in late spring/early summer.
