MedHelp, the world’s largest health social network, provides a free weight loss solution available across the Chrome, iPhone and now the Android platforms. By giving people multiple entry points to enter their weight, exercise and food information, My Diet Diary allows users to monitor their calorie balance virtually anytime, anywhere, for more accurate tracking.
The mobile versions of the app, developed in partnership with GE and its healthymagination initiative, are available as free downloads on iTunes for the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch, in the Android Market Place or at one of the following sites http://www.healthymagination.com/applications/my-diet-diary/ or http://www.medhelp.org/land/calorie-counter-app. The online version of the app is available as a free install for the Chrome browser at http://goo.gl/oyWMy.
When it comes to helping users lose weight, the tools offered across MedHelp’s mobile and online platforms prove to be successful. Users who lost weight using the weight and food tracking tools lost an average of nine pounds in three months, according to MedHelp’s analysis of data from the online and mobile tools.
“We are very excited to offer a comprehensive platform to help people reach their weight loss goals,” said John de Souza, president and CEO of MedHelp. “We want people to utilize the app in a way that is most convenient for them, so they are more likely to track their activities and reach their goals.”
With My Diet Diary, users enter their start and goal weights and then track their eating, exercise, weight, and water consumption to make sure they are on target to reach their goals. The app boast unique features such as personalized daily nutrition requirements (calories, vitamins, minerals) based on the user’s age, gender, height, and weight goal; a goal-weight progress tracker; robust reporting of daily, weekly, and monthly statistics such as calories burned, calories consumed, and time spent exercising; and a database of 150,000 foods users can add to their food diary. By providing users with an easy way to track their eating and exercise habits and monitor their weight-loss trends, users are able to make the right choices in real-time to reach their health goals.
The My Diet Diary iPhone app features a UPC barcode scanner, allowing users to scan the barcodes of their foods for quick and easy nutritional information tracking.
In addition, the iPhone app and Diet Diary Chrome app seamlessly integrate with each other and with MedHelp’s online weight, water, food and exercise trackers, giving users the ability to sync their data to MedHelp’s website. By using the iPhone and Chrome apps in conjunction with one of MedHelp’s condition-specific trackers, users can compare their diet, nutrition and weight data to other health conditions they may be managing, such as diabetes, heart disease and high blood pressure.
My Diet Diary for the Android is the second Android application MedHelp has created in partnership with GE. The first was the pregnancy app, I’m Expecting. MedHelp and GE have also created a series of award-winning iPhone apps: I’m Expecting pregnancy app, Sleep On It sleep tracker and alarm app, Moody Me mood tracker app, Pic Healthy photo food diary, Fit Friendzy exercise challenge app, and My Diet Diary.
