Santa Fe Winter Fiesta brings a night of high energy indie rock to the stage 7 p.m., Monday, Jan. 30, with entertainment from musical groups The Features and The Strange. Hailing from Tennessee, The Features play a mix of classic and contemporary rock 'n' roll, with a sound critics have compared to Elvis Costello, Ray Davies and Kings of Leon. Harkening back to the days of 60s and 70s hard rock, The Strange perform a unique blend of rock, reggae, funk and rockabilly, evoking artists like The Doors, Neil Young and Led Zeppelin.

SantaFe.com and City of Santa Fe feature a night of indie rock with The Features and local act, The Strange, during Santa Fe Winter Fiesta, 7 p.m., Monday, Jan. 30.

Hailing from Sparta, Tennessee, The Features, boast a song on the soundtrack for the recent film “Twilight: Breaking Dawn.” Performing a quirky blend of psychedelic pop and rock music, The Features have forged a global reputation for themselves since releasing their debut album in 1997. The band is fronted by Matt Pelham, a top-notch guitarist, songwriter and singer, and also includes bassist Roger Dabbs, keyboardist Parrish Yaw and drummer Rollum Haas.

Since forming in 2010, The Strange has quickly established itself as Santa Fe's most popular rock outfit with its modern fusion of '60s and '70s classic and hard rock. The Strange was named Best New Band for 2010 by the Santa Fe Reporter. The band's sound has been compared to classic rock stylings of Led Zeppelin, The Doors, Jimi Hendrix, The Band, and Neil Young. The Strange also incorporates a variety of eclectic musical styles, ranging from reggae, and funk to rockabilly and alternative country. The band was recently featured in Austin, during the SXSW New Music New Faces showcase. The Strange is a mainstay of regional radio with its most recent single “Hold On,” available on the band’s debut album “BANNED”.
