The rail facility will bring southeastern Minnesota greater rail access for shipping agricultural related freight.

Farm2Rail Inc. have announced they are in the preliminary stages of developing a 300 acre, multi-loop rail facility near St Charles, MN. The rail facility will bring Southeastern MN greater access than ever before to the economic and environmental benefits of shipping agricultural related freight by rail.

When asked, “How the project is proceeding?” Ed Berens, one of the partners commented, “We are working with several companies, who are interested in this rail facility and see the need for unit trains in the St. Charles area to move products more effectively and efficiently. In addition, we are looking forward to working with the City of St. Charles, its township and Winona County during the permitting of this site for loading and unloading local products.”

Unit trains are a dedicated train in which up to 110 rail cars are shipped from one origin to one destination, without being split up or stored en route. This saves time and money. Berens states the rail center at full capacity may employ up to 50 people.
