Global Track and Trace of Material

Counterfeit and diverted medical devices and pharmaceutical products have become more prevalent in recent years, posing a very real and serious threat to public health. In an ongoing effort to help safeguard its products and the safety of its patients, one of the world’s largest and foremost pharmaceutical and consumer healthcare companies has partnered with Client Solution Architects (CSA) and TrakLok Corporation (TrakLok) to lead, develop and deploy a state-of-the-art covert tracking solution to combat diversion of one of its top selling products.

“We are continually developing and applying anti-counterfeiting and anti-diversion measures throughout the process of product development, distribution and enforcement. This [resolution] to stop those who would divert our products in violation of our written agreements, wherever and whenever it occurs is paramount,” said a top-level senior executive. “We will continue to be vigilant and take the necessary steps to protect patient safety, the integrity of our products, and the supply chain.”

The solution development and deployment will leverage CSA’s deep expertise of the pharmaceutical supply chain and advanced analytics coupled with the world-class engineering prowess and tracking and tracing technology of TrakLok. The project is part of a comprehensive effort on the part of the pharmaceutical firm to strengthen their internal security and provide greater visibility into their supply chain in the ongoing effort to protect their patients.

“Though specifically focused to address challenges in several countries in Asia, the technology and processes adapted can be deployed globally to target and resolve challenges all over the world and is a major shift in the mindset of pharmaceutical companies,” said Jerry Rullo, who leads CSA’s Secure Supply Chain initiatives. “The effort is a critical component of an overall strategic initiative to strengthen and improve security of their global supply chain, protect patients and identify in real-time the diversion of legitimate product entering so-called gray markets.”
