Today GroupGifting.com launched CoachGifter.com, the first in a series of social gifting sites it plans to launch in the coming months. The site helps parents of children involved with youth sports more efficiently manage the process of collecting money from other team parents and buying a gift for the coach.

"There are many instances, such as gifts for the coach, where group gifting is already the norm. At the early stages of our plan we are focused on helping bring these efforts online for the convenience of all involved, and CoachGifter.com does just that," said Tyler Roye, CEO of GroupGifting.com.

The value proposition of online group gifting does not end at convenience. The real benefits are monetary. “Since the system makes it much easier to organize giving a group gift, the end result will be one large gift rather than a bunch of smaller ones. This is a much better outcome for the recipient," added Roye.

The products offered today include Gift Cards delivered via email, which in most cases can be used both online and at the retailer's store. Optionally, using the sites Gift Finder tool, a user can select a gift from Amazon.com and then use the money collected to buy an Amazon.com Gift Card to pay for the selected gift, or choose from millions of other items at Amazon.com.

The maturity of both social media and smart phones has played a major role in making services such as CoachGifter.com possible. "Today, almost everyone is online, and more importantly their friends and contacts all exist in an easily exportable electronic format on Facebook and in their email," added Roye.

With its Facebook and popular email system integrations, the prospects for the company’s platform are far reaching. They believe that the convenience of their system will allow users to consider a group gift in situations that typically would not have been possible due to logistics, such as over wide geographic areas. The system is also a great new social media tool for retailers to reach consumers. To that end, the company anticipates that its list of major retailers will grow to over 200 brands by March of 2012.

To answer this growing demand, the company plans to launch other targeted sites in the coming months, including its flagship site, GroupGifting.com which is designed to work for all gift-giving occasions. There is also a mobile app in the works that allows users to handle the entire process from their smart phones.

"When considering the question, when is a group gift preferable, we realized the question really is when isn't a group gift preferable? We think this will transform the future of gift-giving," concluded Roye.
