In the new military science fiction novel : Banshee Born (published by AuthorHouse), author A.M. Megahed narrates the adventurous tale of Alessandro “Alex” Watanabe, a young man who escapes a prison planet and changes the course of galactic history.

Alex was born on Banshee, a prison planet. As a native, he is legally free to leave Banshee, but the realities of life on a prison world are far different than simply “legal.” The only stable influence in his life while on Banshee is his cousin, Kyla Watanabe. But not even Kyla can keep him from escaping.

The universe around Banshee is one of feuding interstellar empires, and there is always a place for a man who is “good with his hands,” to find work. Running construction machines as a young man in the mines of Banshee was good training, and Alex finds work as an interstellar mercenary. So begins his rise to prominences on a galactic scale.

Megahed lists famous authors like Robert A. Heinlein and Alfred Bester as his influences, but notes that their example was only part of his motivation. “A lot of published modern science fiction is poorly written and uses bad science,” he says. “I thought I could do better.”

“Any reader who loves hardcore military science fiction,” Megahed says, “will love Banshee Born.” He also notes its appeal to more general science fiction readers, noting the novel’s theme of coming-of-age in a future civilization.
