Burstorm announced today that Erikas Napjus, the former Director of Global Infrastructure at Google has been named as a Strategic Advisor and Consultant. Erikas has 20 years of experience building, developing, designing, negotiating, acquiring and implementing global Internet infrastructure. In his role of Strategic Advisor and Consultant, Erikas will collaborate with Burstorm clients on their data center strategies including data center site evaluation and negotiation; large-scale cloud computing site selection and facility design; Internet peering and transit strategy; and Internet backbone architecture, strategy, negotiation, and design.
Napjus is one of the industry’s leading authorities on data center site selection and an expert on global carrier-grade telecommunications infrastructure having launched Google’s rural ‘server farm’ cloud computing sites and having worked with virtually every major carrier around the world to build Google into one of the world's largest and most extensive carrier-grade networks.
Brandon Abbey, CEO Burstorm remarked, “There are only a handful of people that possess the depth of knowledge of both wholesale data centers and carrier class networks that Erikas does. The reality is that the work that Erikas and his team performed at Google changed the way that the industry talks and thinks about data centers. He is a pioneer and industry leader and we are honored to have him as part of the Burstorm team. At Burstorm, we work closely with our clients to understand their constraints and objectives then analyze the data and map it to the suppliers that can best perform on their requirements. Erikas brings a vast amount of knowledge and real life experience to help define and optimize our process, ensuring we are giving our clients the data points they need to make sound business decisions.”
During his tenure at Google, Erikas founded and built Google’s Global Infrastructure organization which focused on identifying and selecting all data center and network infrastructure to satisfy Google’s extreme growth in a cost-effective manner. Prior to his work building Google’s data center and telecommunications infrastructure, Erikas was responsible for all of Yahoo!’s international infrastructure operations including teams in ten countries across five continents.
Erikas commented, “Burstorm offers a unique distribution channel for cloud computing and Internet infrastructure services around the world. By coupling some of the leading minds in cloud computing with a revolutionary constraints-based system for optimization of requirements, Burstorm is able to quickly, effectively, and efficiently identify the best compute solution for any given company. It’s a very exciting time in the evolution toward cloud computing and I’m pleased to have the opportunity to work closely with the team at Burstorm to help companies to define and refine their cloud computing strategies.”
The modern corporate computer is no longer a mainframe in the back room instead it's all of the computers, storage, data center and network infrastructure. The company is faced with a dynamic set of constraints and objectives such as reducing cost or improving flexibility of this corporate computer. Against this backdrop the marketplace is providing 1000s of new compute, storage, data center and network cloud services to choose from. No one person can possibly rationalize all of the possible combinations to determine the best solution.
As a specialist in the field, Burstorm provides a cloud service which combines knowledge of the client's infrastructure, constraints and objectives to provide recommendations based on the latest available cloud computing services and business models on a monthly or on demand basis. In addition to this highly scalable recommendation engine, Burstorm has also developed a purchasing engine to drive the complex purchasing process.
