Physician and nursing shortages, a multigenerational workforce, an aging population, cuts in healthcare spending and more are shaking the bedrock of the U.S. healthcare system.
Chicago, IL (PRWEB) January 24, 2012
The Chicago Health Executives Forum (CHEF) will host an annual meeting forum on February 8, 2012, from 5:00pm to 9:30pm at the Chicago Navy Pier. Top executives from the most prestigious leading healthcare organizations in the country (US) will discuss the challenges and opportunities facing the American healthcare system. The conference will be moderated by the publisher of Modern Healthcare and Modern Physician magazines, Fawn Lopez.
“We’re bringing together the best visionaries in healthcare to discuss the challenges and opportunities facing our industry in very near future. Physician and nursing shortages, a multigenerational workforce, an aging population, cuts in healthcare spending and more are shaking the bedrock of the U.S. healthcare system,” said Kate Liebelt, President of Chicago Healthcare Executive Forum. “Healthcare systems must find ways to adapt and change to serve our patients, manage costs and maintain the level of care that we have all come to expect.”
Reliance on the healthcare industry for job creation is being overshadowed by projected cuts in federal and state healthcare spending. In addition, more than 10,000 baby boomers are turning 65 each day, taxing the existing system and dramatically altering trends in hiring and training.
The February 8, 2012, panel will feature these keynote speakers:
- CEO of American College of Healthcare Executives, Thomas Dolan, PhD, FACHE, CAE
- CEO American Medical Association, James Madara, MD
- President, American Academy of Nursing, Joanne Disch, PhD, RN, FAAN
- Vice President, American Hospital Association & President of Center for Healthcare
Governance, John Combs, MD
The panel is being held in recognition of the 36th Annual Meeting of the Chicago Health Executives Forum, an 1,880 member chapter of the American College of Healthcare Executives. Esteemed event sponsors include Jarrard, Phillips, Cate & Hancock, Inc., a national healthcare public affairs firm, Crain's Chicago Health Care Daily produced by Crain’s Chicago Business, and Clark Hill PLC, a full service law firm.
