Austin, Texas (PRWEB) January 24, 2012
Austin entrepreneur Amy Brown credits her enthusiasm for twitter for landing an appearance on ‘Cupcake Wars,’ one of the Food Network’s most popular shows. The mother of five has been a dedicated user of social media since she launched her Northwest Austin cupcake store Cupprimo in 2008. Brown and Cupprimo head baker Monica Stelly will face off against other top cupcake bakers from across the country on ‘Cupcake Wars’ beginning January 29 at 7pm Central.
‘Cupcake Wars’ receives thousands of audition tapes from bakeries nationwide in hopes of earning a chance to showcase their creations. However, Brown’s path to TV fame came about unexpectedly. She was contacted by ‘Cupcake Wars’ and encouraged to audition after the show followed Brown’s many tweets promoting Cupprimo.
“Twitter and Facebook have been great for Cupprimo because our customer base is social media savvy,” says Brown. “I never dreamed it would lead to such an incredible opportunity. I know people in this business who have been trying to get on ‘Cupcake Wars’ for three years.”
Brown also points to Cupprimo’s unique approach to the cupcake business for helping the Austin cupcakery stand out against stiff competition to get selected for the show. Cupprimo bakes everything fresh daily and offers 150 different flavors of cupcakes in any customized way that a customer can imagine. Cupprimo bakers have dreamed up recipes for customer requested flavors like Chocolate Elvis, Brown Chicken Brown Cow, Snickerdoodle, and Gluten Free favorites. While many cupcake bakeries have a traditional prim and proper atmosphere, Cupprimo customers have come to appreciate the saucy, down-to-earth vibe they get when they walk in the door. “We take cupcakes very seriously,” says Brown. “But we don’t take ourselves seriously.”
Brown says the best part of being on ‘Cupcake Wars’ is seeing the excitement among Cupprimo’s staff. “Being on a Food Network show that has such a cult following is a great opportunity for the people of Cupprimo to showcase what they do on national stage,” says Brown. “Appearing on ‘Cupcake Wars’ may be one of the most exciting things they’ll do in their culinary career.”
Each week on ‘Cupcake Wars,’ four of the country’s top cupcake bakers face off in three elimination challenges until only one decorator remains for a $10,000 prize.
Cupprimo is hosting a ‘Cupcake Wars’ viewing party at Dig Pub in Cedar Park on January 29 at 6:30pm. Amy Brown is donating a portion of the proceeds to the Austin Culinary Academy where Cupprimo has recruited many of its talented interns.
