San Francisco Moving Company Great Giant contributes to Sunset Neighborhood Beacon Center’s Overhaul

At the beginning of 2012, Great Giant Moving Company of San Francisco organized and completed a pro bono move for The Sunset Neighborhood Beacon Center, which has been a part of San Francisco’s Sunset District since 1996. The SNBC focuses on strategically directing a significant concentration of resources to families in distressed and underserved populations in the Sunset. For Great Giant, this served as an excellent opportunity to meet and assist some of the altruistic individuals that strive to keep San Francisco one of California’s most philanthropic communities.

Since opening for business in early 2011, the San Francisco Moving Company has done a lot to contribute to the community, including acting as on-site assistance at the Escape the Rock Triathlon, loading Great Giant trucks with gear during one of the Shark Swims put on by Enviro-Sports, and being an active contributor to the growing California Rugby Community. Great Giant continued its philanthropic efforts by partnering up with the Sunset Neighborhood Beacon Center to help with its recent and long overdue remodeling efforts. With limited financial resources, the SNBC benefited by having Great Giant help pack up and remove all old and unwanted materials in the center, detach and safely remove old appliances, as well as help lay a new floor in the center.

Great Giant is a part of Gentle Giant Moving Company, whose long tradition of community-based philanthropy contributed to their winning of the Boston Business Journal’s “Innovation Partner of the Year Award” in 2008.

“Supporting the communities that support our small business is important for us,” Gentle Giant founder and CEO Larry O’Toole explains. “The relationships Great Giant has developed in the San Francisco community in such a short time sets a great example within our growing company.”

In addition to continue working with the Sunset Neighborhood Beacon Center, Great Giant is actively seeking charitable organizations to partner with in the upcoming year.
