Jewelry Television® (JTV), the world’s largest broadcast shopping network focused exclusively on the sale of fine jewelry and loose gemstones, hosted members of the international gemstone community at the company’s Knoxville headquarters last week. The event, called Gem Congress, included three days of meetings with vendors and other industry leaders.
“Vendors from within the international gemstone community are very influential in helping to shape the trends we see in retail jewelry and gemstones,” said Gerald Sisk, graduate gemologist and Jewelry Television co-founder. “As the world’s largest retailer of loose gemstones, JTV seeks to be on the forefront of new gemstone discoveries, cuts and treatment processes.”
This is the first of what is to be an annual event at JTV, bringing together more than 100 members of the influential gemstone industry representing more than 12 countries from all over the world. The industry leaders convened at JTV to participate in roundtable discussions as well as to collaborate on gemstone trends and share important insider information.
JTV’s Gem Congress event featured an awards portion during which recognition was given for product concept, innovation and operational excellence. Additionally, honors such as Vendor of the Year and a Lifetime Achievement Award were bestowed upon specially recognized vendors.
“The purpose of Gem Congress is to encourage transparency, collaboration and innovation among the international gemstone community,” said Sisk. “After a most successful first conference, we look very forward to making this event an annual tradition.”
