When We Were Young by author George Kilbourne reveals that life in the eastern part of Kentucky during the Great Depression is a far cry from living in the Metropolitan San Francisco area. Most everything was different. This book attempts to preserve what everything was like during that period and serve it as a legacy to the subsequent generations.

In this book, Kilbourne presents a wonderful recollection of the life, events, and experiences to dumbfound the young and bemuse the old. Life was just different, and it wasn’t that long ago for the author who is in his eighties. The stories and descriptions in this book are meant to record, to amuse and perhaps befuddle younger generations, with their impossibilities, memories and verbal pictures. Meant mainly for the author’s nephews and nieces, this book is also relevant for those who never had the “benefit” of living in that time.

When We Were Young is a detailed and very inspiring book that will jog readers’ memories and cause them to record something of their own lives for succeeding generations. It is available in trade paperback, trade hardback, and Ebook formats.

About the Author
Born and raised in a small town in Eastern Kentucky, George Kilbourne served in the Marine Corps in WWII in the South Pacific before returning to the states to go to school. After getting a degree in mechanical engineering at the University of Michigan, he moved to the West Coast to work for a large corporation as an engineer. A bout with Tb forced a vacation that caused a change in life perspective, and allowed the getting of a law degree at the University of California - Berkeley, and subsequent law practice in Berkeley, before moving to a small town in Indiana for law practice. Six years there, with cases coming in that reflected the difference in life style, he returned to Berkeley and the San Francisco Bay Area, where he now lives in retirement.
