Louisville-area residents will welcome award-winning film director Bob Bowdon -- the founder of Choice Media -- to discuss the national school choice movement during the first-ever National School Choice Week event in the state of Kentucky. The event will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 24.
The program features clips from Bowdon’s education documentary “The Cartel.” The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the Cathedral of the Assumption Undercroft, located at 433 S. 5 Street in Louisville.
National School Choice Week (Jan. 22-28, 2012) shines a spotlight on the need for effective options for all children, including great public schools, public charter schools, private schools, virtual schools and homeschooling. Planned by a diverse and bipartisan coalition of citizens and organizations from across the country, National School Choice Week will reach hundreds of communities and tens of millions of Americans in 2012.
"It is essential that citizens in Louisville and across the country realize the benefits of school choice, and Bob Bowdon -- after going behind-the-scenes to produce 'The Cartel' -- is the perfect person to highlight the challenges that advocates of reform face when they push back against the entrenched educational status quo," said Andrew Campanella, vice president of public affairs for National School Choice Week.
