DMTI Spatial solution will help aid the OMA with several research initiatives including a project aimed at bringing more doctors to rural and Northern areas in the province.

“DMTI Spatial helped us solve our analysis requirements by producing the data we needed in a reasonable time and at a realistic cost,” said Boris Kralj, Executive Director, Economics and Chief Economist, OMA.

DMTI Spatial Inc. (DMTI), Canada’s leading provider of Location Intelligence solutions has announced that it was chosen by the Ontario Medical Association (OMA) to develop a custom location-based solution to further the OMA’s physician incentive research. DMTI worked closely with the OMA to provide the association with the ability to complete in-depth analysis to support its mission of providing accessible, quality health care for Ontario. Prior to DMTI’s solution, the OMA believed the ability to complete such complex analysis was not feasible due to the quality and coverage of data available from other providers and the amount of compute time required to perform the calculations.

DMTI developed an innovative solution that made the requirements of the OMA realistic in terms of both cost and time. The solution delivered will assist the OMA with a variety of location-based policy analyses, including some in partnership with the provincial government, such as creating a “rurality index” to measure where physicians are located in relation to the population. Some of the initial analysis will aid the OMA by determining appropriate physician incentives in relation to available facilities and population. This will help ensure improved physician coverage and facilities in rural areas and the new model that DMTI built to meet the OMA’s requirements can be utilized by other agencies across the country to meet similar goals.

“DMTI Spatial helped us solve our analysis requirements by producing the data we needed in a reasonable time and at a realistic cost,” said Boris Kralj, Executive Director, Economics and Chief Economist, OMA. “They turned a project that was previously thought to be unfeasible into a reality.”

“We are very proud to assist the OMA with a task of such high importance,” said John Fisher, CEO, DMTI. “The massive scale of the compute problem presented by OMA completely overwhelmed traditional approaches. Happily we were able to leverage DMTI’s years of experience and leadership in the Location Intelligence space to overcome this obstacle and build an innovative solution that should benefit all Ontarians.”
