Self-paced program is IIBA-certified for professional development

Investing in training to specify and manage requirements saves money overall and increases the likelihood of project success.

321 Gang, the four‐time IBM® Rational® award‐winning premier business partner, now offers three International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA)-certified requirements training courses. These self-paced, online courses are presented by requirements management expert Marcia Stinson from QLS and teach best practices for requirements definition and management. Each course delivers eight professional development units (8 PDUs) from the IIBA.

“Clear requirements are essential to project success. Typically a quarter of software projects are cancelled and almost half miss their scheduled delivery. More often than not, these problems could have been avoided with proper requirements definition,” said Marcia Stinson, course instructor for 321 Gang. “Investing in training to specify and manage requirements saves money overall and increases the likelihood of project success.”

Students typically spend four to eight hours completing each self-paced requirements course, which includes pre-recorded curriculum with video, and exercises and tests graded by the instructor.

The three courses in the 321 Gang Requirements series include:

  •     Defining and Managing Requirements with Use Cases, which covers how to employ use cases effectively to define requirements, and how to use them throughout the development cycle, including elicitation and testing.
  •     Improving Your Requirement Elicitation Techniques, which covers techniques for documenting processes and high-level capabilities, clarifying user expectations, identifying gaps and conflicts, and prioritizing requirements.
  •     Requirements Management Basics, which covers requirements language and modeling techniques, best practices for specifying requirements, and how to validate requirements and manage changes.

Each course is offered for $195 per student. Students can sign up at 321gang.digitalchalk.com.

In addition to these courses, 321 Gang provides consulting, mentoring and training solutions for the most current, best‐practice technologies for software application development including agile projects, model-driven design, and more. 321 Gang also sells a complete range of IBM Rational product licenses at competitive prices.

Public and on-site training workshops offered by the Gang include Eclipse, Eclipse plug-in development, IBM Rational DOORS, IBM Rational Publishing Engine, IBM Rational Rhapsody, IBM Rational Rose RealTime, IBM Rational Team Concert, Service Oriented Architecture (SOA), UML modeling, and custom courses upon request.
