Comtrend Corporation, a global manufacturer and supplier of advanced networking solutions, today announced two new wireless gateways immediately available to cable operators.
Comtrend’s CM-6200un and CM-6300n are standards-compliant DOCSIS 2.0 and DOCSIS 3.0 residential gateways that are easy-to-install, remotely manageable and environmentally friendly. They share features such as a built-in firewall with Stateful Packet Inspection, intrusion detection and Denial of Service attack prevention to protect users from attacks over the Internet.
The CM-6200un (DOCSIS 2.0 compatible) represents a cost-competitive solution, with 150Mbps Wireless N and four Fast Ethernet (10/100) ports with auto-negotiation MDIX functionality. It also includes one USB 1.1 device port for additional networking options.
The CM-6300n (DOCSIS 3.0 compatible) is a state-of-the-art, 300Mbps wireless N gateway with four Gigabit (10/100/1000) ports with auto-negotiation MDIX functionality that are IPv6 compliant.
Both models are available today through select distributors.
“Cable and xDSL are the most predominant methods of accessing the terrestrial Internet today. Comtrend now extends its expertise to both technologies. This leverages our existing, highly regarded support staff and logistics infrastructure - keeping our costs down and customer support high. Additionally, we are critically focused on expanding our product portfolio with solutions highly relevant to our core customers. We know that roughly 25% of our existing customer base offers cable service. Expansion into the cable space simply makes sense,” said John DiFrenna, Vice President of Sales and Marketing of Comtrend–Americas.
“Comtrend’s new Cable Gateway series will help service providers lower their carbon footprint and minimize their effect on the environment,” said John Castreje, General Manager of Comtrend–Americas. “This series uses ENERGY STAR compliant power supplies and the lead-free, RoHS compliant circuit boards. Comtrend is dedicated the preservation of our world’s natural resources and will continue to pursue a minimal ecological impact.”
