In Christian Education Teaching Methods – From Modern to Postmodern: Teaching the Faith to Post-Moderns (published by AuthorHouse) Carlos C. Roberts applies years of experience in Christian education to a study of how modern – and postmodern – Christians connect with Christianity.
Roberts gives pastors, professional teachers, students of religious education or Christian education, theological students and Sunday school teachers a toolkit with Christian Education Teaching Methods – From Modern to Postmodern. It presents methods which bridge the cultural gap between the postmodern world and the foundations of Christian beliefs.
“My experience tells me that there are millions if not billions of people in the world today who live with a lot of self-hate, with very low self-esteem and have never been positively affirmed by anyone,” he says. “The book shows them how God does it and how we can do it following the models that God, Jesus Christ, biblical prophets, and John the Baptist are.”
Roberts’ book stems from years of work in the field of religious education. In it, he proposes the Herald model for Christian education – a concept he explores in great depth in the book.
“I developed the book not from theory but from action research or an embedded context,” says Roberts. “Yet it aims to affirm and empower the teacher to teach in ways that empower and affirm one’s students; or the leader to affirm, equip and empower the “disciples”, congregation, community members, team or group members.”
