Training professionals Clarifi Consulting offer a range of training for professionals and practitioners working with survivors of sexual abuse. Clarifi report that female survivors of childhood sex abuse quite often choose to disclose their experiences of childhood sexual abuse to a health professional at the time of pregnancy, childbirth, and the early stages of becoming a parent or suffering a trauma of some kind.

“It can take a lot of courage for someone to decide to disclose, but when they do it is vital that those handling this information know how to offer the right support," explains Fiona Ellis, director of Clarifi Consulting.

Fiona Ellis, Director of Clarifi explains: “It can take a lot of courage for someone to decide to disclose, but when they do it is vital that those handling this information know how to offer the right support and direct the survivor to appropriate help so that their healing can begin.”

Clarifi Consulting, a high quality advice and support service, have devised a two stage effective training programme that has been designed specifically for frontline health professionals, who may at any stage in their work have a disclosure of historic child abuse made to them, and who will want to provide the best possible help at the time.

The right response is not something that is always instinctively known but with the One in Four Training – Foundation Programme, those who may come into contact with survivors are given the training to recognise when a disclosure is being made, what constitutes CSA and essential guidance in the best way to respond.

Fiona continues, “Our programmes have been devised by top mental health professionals, with consultation from survivors, with the aim of ensuring that the right balance is struck between professional good practice and what survivors find most useful when disclosing.”

The Enhanced programme is a more comprehensive course and is ideal for counsellors, therapists, social workers, community mental health workers, substance misuse workers, GPs, family support practitioners or anyone else working with survivors of childhood sexual abuse.

Clarifi also offers bespoke training that can be tailored to individual organisations or specialist areas.
