LocumTenens.com, operator of the largest job board for the locum tenens industry and full-service recruiting firm, reports that the LocumTenens.com Online Job Index rose nearly 16 percent, increasing 47 points, in the fourth quarter of 2011, the largest increase in the history of the index.

The index stands 134 points higher than it stood one year ago during the fourth quarter of 2010, a 63.5% overall increase from a year ago.

“LocumTenens.com has seen an increase in the number of employers posting a high volume of jobs,” Liz Miller, director of web services, said. “This seems to be a positive sign for larger employers and agencies.”

The LocumTenens.com Online Job Index includes data collected by LocumTenens.com since January 2007 and is a broad quarterly analysis of demand for locum tenens jobs based on the total number of active job postings at http://www.LocumTenens.com.

Jobs are posted to LocumTenens.com by healthcare facilities and locum tenens agencies nationwide. The index combines data from job postings for locum tenens positions and those that will consider either locum tenens or permanent.
