Rosenberg EC fans are now available with Modbus controls, allowing greatly increased efficiencies and lower power consumption in systems requiring multiple networked fans.

Each secondary fan can be programmed to come on line separately and at variable speeds allowing a more effective balance between electrical usage and air movement requirements.

Rosenberg USA introduced electronically commutated (EC) fans with Modbus controls last week at AHR EXPO 2012. Rosenberg EC fans are available in axial and backward curved radial configurations. Rosenberg’s adoption of Modbus control technology increases fan efficiency and significantly reduces power consumption.

Applications for Rosenberg EC fans include use in forced air heaters, heat pumps, condensers, cooling units, evaporators, chillers, electronics cooling, air handling and HVAC systems.

In applications involving multiple networked fans, such as in commercial rooftop air conditioning, Modbus technology is far superior to more-common primary/secondary fan operations. In a typical primary/secondary system, all fans operate at the same time and at the same speed.

With Modbus, the main fan’s speed can be controlled independently from secondary fans. Each secondary fan can be programmed to come on line separately and at variable speeds allowing a more effective balance between electrical usage and air movement requirements.

Rosenberg’s Modbus interface is simple to configure. No special connectors or tools are needed for communication wiring. All Rosenberg EC fans are Modbus compatible.

Rosenberg EC fans are driven by DC motors. Controlled by maintenance-free electronic circuitry, they run cooler and quieter with longer service life.

Rosenberg backward curved EC fans are available in 10 sizes from 250 mm to 710 mm (approximately 10 to 28 inches) produce airflow up to 9,300 CFM or static pressure up to 6.75 inches. They can be specified as either motorized impellers or as fan modules.

Rosenberg’s EC axial fans come in seven sizes from 500 up to 1000 mm (20 to 40 inches) with top airflow of up to 20,000 CFM. They can be installed in any position. Speed is 100% infinitely variable. They feature finned blades that reduce noise and increase efficiency.

Rosenberg also offers customized products made specifically to meet customers’ unique needs such as special finishes, voltages, or frequencies.

The Rosenberg family of companies employs more than 1,400 individuals worldwide. Rosenberg USA is headquartered just outside Charlotte in Indian Trail, N.C.
