Canadian Entry Door Manufacturer Now Using BuyDesign Product Configurator to Offer Dealers 24x7 Sales Capabilities

(TDCI), the leading provider of configurator-based software, announced today that MDL Doors, a leading Canadian manufacturer of pre-hung exterior residential entrance systems, has launched a new-generation online product configurator. This quoting and ordering system capability is based on the BuyDesign Product Configurator and Guided Selling Suite from TDCI. MDL Doors is now in the process of ramping up usage of the new system for the company’s network of over 700 dealers throughout Ontario.

BuyDesign is a comprehensive solution suite developed to streamline the sales process for customized products. BuyDesign helps companies that manufacture products with a wide range of features, options, and dimensions increase sales by becoming ‘easy to do business with’ while at the same time reducing order processing time, cost, and errors.

Using BuyDesign Configurator along with BuyDesign Channel Sales and BuyDesign FlexRender, MDL Doors dealers can now configure and price door systems, produce photorealistic images so the homeowner can fully visualize the door in their own home, produce a detailed quote document, and submit orders online to MDL Doors.

“Our goal is to make it as easy as possible for our dealers to create and sell exactly the entrance system each individual customer wants,” states Mervin Lichty, MDL Doors CSO. “BuyDesign gives us a great tool for doing that, and our dealers are quickly adopting it as the fastest and best way for them to make sales.”

Over 140 dealers are already using the new software, with more coming on board every week. “We’ve had an enthusiastic response to BuyDesign,” says Nicole Noble, who is a part of the MDL Doors Customer Care Team, and who is currently doing twice daily dealer introduction sessions. “Our dealers quickly see how user-friendly the system is and become anxious to use it right away. Since it’s all online, they can use it in their office any time day or night, or interactively in a customer’s home sitting at their kitchen table. They love the fact that it guides them through every detail and allows them to add their own items such as hardware and installation services to create one complete quote for the customer.”

“They also see that the ability to show the customer an attractive as-specified image of the door is a great sales tool,” adds Jillian Underwood, MDL Doors Marketing Coordinator. “This is an important benefit to them, along with the ability to control the final pricing based on their specific markups and discounts.”

MDL Doors selected BuyDesign after doing a thorough review of available configuration and quoting tools available in the market. “Our dealers played a big role in helping us select BuyDesign,” continued Noble. “After we narrowed down the options, we asked TDCI to present the solution to some of our dealers using one of our products. We invited ten of our dealers to see a demonstration and the overwhelming consensus was that BuyDesign was the tool they would like to see us offer. That was great confirmation since several of them were accustomed to using a different tool and felt BuyDesign was better.”

One dealer representative, Keith Walpole from Millers Home Building Centre in Sauble Beach, Ontario, expressed his thoughts by saying: “I have been using MDL Doors’ BuyDesign software for awhile now and am very impressed with the ease with which I can quote their door systems.
