Sarasota-based property and casualty insurer FCCI Insurance Group (FCCI) is again expanding its geographic reach and has created new home office and regional leadership roles to support this growth. Craig Johnson, FCCI president & chief executive officer, announced these changes as part of FCCI’s ongoing commitment to maintain strength and stability while leveraging new market opportunities.

This year, FCCI will begin writing commercial property and casualty insurance policies in Maryland and Texas and will also begin the filing process to expand into Louisiana and Arkansas, bringing the total number of states FCCI operates in to 18.

The newly created position of Senior Vice President – Business Development & Strategic Initiatives will be filled by Rich Rueger, formerly senior vice president of FCCI’s Southeast region. Rueger’s role will include identifying agent partners in expansion states that share FCCI’s values and commitment to its customers, while strengthening its existing relationships.

Another newly created position, Senior Vice President – Home Office Underwriting, will be filled by Bill Speaker, formerly senior vice president of FCCI’s Florida region. Speaker’s underwriting expertise has contributed to FCCI’s exceptional performance in the Florida region and will now be leveraged across all FCCI regions.

FCCI’s Warren Edwards, will assume the position of Senior Vice President – Florida region. Edwards joined FCCI as vice president of underwriting for the Florida region in April 2011. Edwards has more than 25 years’ experience in the insurance industry and well-established relationships in the Florida market.

In addition to these leadership changes, FCCI is pleased to welcome Jim Harms, who fills another newly created role as Regional Vice President – Texas, and Chris Piela who joins FCCI as Senior Vice President – Southeast region.

Harms joins FCCI with more than 35 years’ experience, most recently as vice president of CNA’s Dallas branch. Harms also serves as president-elect of the Insurance Council of Texas.

“We are excited and energized to welcome two new regional leaders with valuable expertise in the insurance industry and strong local ties to the regions they will lead,” Johnson said.

“These new positions and colleagues will help FCCI achieve our 2012 corporate goals, as well as our longer-term strategic objectives,” he said. “We are strengthening our leadership across the entire organization, while continuing to offer the regional focus, local presence and personal relationships that make us easy to do business with.”
