The Gwinnett County art community recognized one of its most dedicated leaders with a Lifetime Achievement award at the First Annual ArtWorks! Gwinnett awards. Cindy Sutt was recognized for her work over the last 26 years in the Gwinnett County arts community.

Cindy’s involvement with the arts community includes her collaboration and leadership in founding Barefoot in the Park Fine Arts Festival, a weekend-long event in May that is in its eighth year. Barefoot in the Park was also honored at the ArtWorks! ceremony with an “Arts Partnership” award for working with the community and a group of dedicated business owners to bring this premiere fine arts festival to the Duluth Town Green each Spring. “Barefoot in the Park is just the most recent project I am involved in, but surely not the last,” said Sutt. “Arts and education are two of my passions, and Barefoot embraces both. There is a true need to bring arts education to its rightful place in our educational systems.”

Other highlights of Cindy’s arts involvement show her true love for the arts. Her resume includes the Brick House arts co-op in Duluth, GA, the Duluth School of Ballet, Down Right Theatre, Dunwoody Stage Door, and Aurora Theatre in Lawrenceville, GA. “The most exciting part of the first Fusion ArtWorks! celebration is that this is just the beginning of a new era for the arts community of Gwinnett County,” said Sutt. “We have struggled to draw attention to the amazing work our arts community has produced, and to showcase the richness of life in Gwinnett County. ArtWorks! gives us a unified voice we have long been waiting for.”

This year’s Barefoot in the Park will take place on the Town Green in Duluth, GA, May 5-6. Highlights of the event include a Gala, Artist Market with regionally recognized talent, a Children’s Art Park and art workshops, performances, entertainment, and a silent auction, which helps fund “Arts for Education”, the Barefoot Arts Scholarship Program.
