In 2005 Kristine S. Matheson was diagnosed with terminal cancer and given at best 12 months to live. Not willing to oblige, Matheson took control of her own health, researched various alternate health protocols, including nutrition, meditation, and exercise, and with the help and encouragement of her husband, who had beaten testicular cancer in 1980 via natural means, created her own wellness program. She chronicles that experience in “From Cancer to Wellness: the forgotten secrets” (published by Balboa Press).

“From Cancer to Wellness: the forgotten secrets,” is a step-by-step handbook for beating cancer,” Matheson writes. “It is also a holistic practical approach to any disease including heart disease, diabetes, arthritis, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, hormonal issues, MS, and obesity, to name but a few.” She continues:

“The reader becomes empowered to have faith in their body’s own ability to heal, and to make the necessary nutritional, and lifestyle changes that bring the body back into balance for optimum health, and fitness. The reader also discovers the simplicity of healing. Much of society has lost its way in the knowledge of natural healing, so it is important for them to get back to basics and uncover ‘the forgotten secrets’. Some of the secrets that are thousands of years old have escaped our scrutiny. This handbook reveals these secrets.”

Matheson cites the abuse of modern prescription drugs as one of the most earnest reasons her book is needed. “We need to go back to basics. Our lifestyles are killing us.”
