First-of-Its-Kind "Be Ready To Vote" Mobile Campaign to Increase Voter Participation Gains Traction with Smartphone Users

The mobile initiative makes it easier for Florida residents to check their voter status and update their information with their mobile phone.

A first-of-its-kind mobile action code campaign, built by Massachusetts-based mobile marketing and technology services company, Nellymoser, is making it easier for Florida residents to check their voter status and update their information with their mobile phone for Tuesday's Republican Presidential Primary and the general elections this year.

Sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Florida, the mobile initiative campaign aims to inform Florida voters about their current registration status and, ultimately, increase voter turnout at the polls.

Nellymoser produced the mobile user experience for the “Be Ready to Vote” campaign including developing the creative and business logic, as well as hosting the mobile site. When mobile phone users scan a “Be Ready to Vote” Microsoft Tag, they are prompted to enter their name and date of birth to check their voter status and are provided with three menu options for contacting their local Supervisor of Elections office: either by phone, email or website. Once connected, users can update their voter information or have their questions answered by a representative.

“Florida's election laws have recently changed. Many voters may not be aware of how these changes could impact their vote on election day. With three upcoming 2012 elections, it’s critical that citizens know who to contact and what they need to do to be ready to vote,” said Charley Williams, LWVF Statewide Chair of Voter Services. “The Nellymoser technology gives us a valuable tool for reaching out to citizens and providing them with the information they need to participate in the political process.”
