Shawnee Peak a family ski resort is dedicated to philanthropic giving. To show the community they care, Shawnee Peak is giving back by donating funds and providing complimentary ski and snowboard opportunities to the groups and programs that make an everyday difference in the New England area.
For the 5th year in a row, Shawnee Peak will provide complimentary season passes to all current patients in the Maine Children’s Cancer Program, their families, and to all the social workers in the program based in the Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital at Maine Medical Center in Portland. The MCCP offers outpatient consultation and treatment for children diagnosed with cancer and blood disorders.
Shawnee Peak is also offering complimentary season passes to any family affected by America’s continued international and homeland security deployments. New England is full of military installations, and since 2003 Shawnee Peak has issued thousands of free season passes in an effort to thank America’s deployed soldiers, sailors and other military personnel.
Resulting from last year’s success of involving more kids from inner-city neighborhoods to the sports of skiing and snowboarding, Shawnee Peak hosted a Free Learn to Ski and Snowboard day for the Boys and Girls Club of Dorchester. They provided 150 kids from the ages of 8-15 with a full day of activities including free lift tickets, lessons, rental equipment and lunch.
Shawnee Peak also offers fundraising activities on the mountain for Camp Sunshine, Hear me now, and the Red Cross amongst other no-profit groups.
