CheckPoint HR, the trusted ally in web-based Human Resources management for small to mid-sized companies, today reports that 2011 Tri-State area employment slowed to .05% at year’s end, compared to the reported 0.32% growth during the last quarter of 2010.
According to CheckPoint HR’s data, which is polled from more than 400 customers in the Tri-State area, employment increased slightly in the months of October, November, and December. However, the rate of growth declined in comparison to this timeframe last year.
While numbers in the Tri-State area are down, according to an annual CareerBuilder survey, the 2012 hiring outlook remains optimistic. The survey cites nearly one-in-four hiring managers plan to hire full-time, permanent employees in the coming year, consistent with the employment data reported prior to the beginning of 2011.
“While growth was slow during the last quarter of 2011, we believe that hiring will pick back up in the first two quarters of 2012, similar to the slight boost we felt in the first two quarters of 2011,” said Neil Friedman, CFO, CheckPoint HR. “We are hearing from businesses that they are finally starting to feel more stabilized as compared to previous years.”
Small businesses and their growth are the drivers for the broader American economy. CheckPoint HR’s sampling of data is a good indicator for the health of small to medium sized businesses in the New Jersey, New York, and Connecticut areas.
