The Service Skeds Android tablet app will showcase many new field management features that are only now possible thanks to the increased screen space of Android tablets over phones. Both text and images will be bigger and clearer, making the app even more easy-to-use for HVAC technicians to show invoices to customers, have customers sign for approvals and payment, and look up price book and inventory information.
Service Skeds’ Android design team created this app with the day-to-day duties of HVAC companies and their techs in mind. They wanted their service management system to be a natural, fully featured replacement for a traditional clipboard. Service Skeds’ graphic designers and developers achieve this by designing one organized screen filled with all the necessary information. The app will also have features created exclusively for the dispatcher, such as direct control over what techs see on their tablets or smartphones, and the ability to dispatch technicians from the tablet while out of the office.
“We wanted users to be able to view everything they needed right there, on one big screen,” Ryan Bailey, lead Android developer for Service Skeds, said. “Instead of switching between many different tabs, field service techs can simply open our Android tablet app, get the information they need and get back to work.”
Unlike other smartphone devices, Android tablets currently do not have a large number of available field service apps for scheduling the entire customer experience, while increasing technician efficiency. The Service Skeds team wants to be ahead of the game, being one of the first to release a true Android tablet application in the 2nd quarter of 2012.
