Back9Network, the new sports lifestyle television and media network for golf fans who want to do more than follow the leaderboard, today announced that Mike Feld has joined the company as Chief Technology Officer.

Mr. Feld joins Back9Network with more than 20-years of experience in telecommunications and information technology. In this new role, Mr. Feld will oversee the strategic implementation of all technologies for Back9Network, while being responsible for identifying new opportunities for technology to assist in the planning, operations and growth of the company’s multi-platform content distribution initiatives. He will work closely with Back9Network’s production team on the deployment of broadcasting technology, post-production, website and mobile development, and information systems.

“Mike is well-known and respected in the telecommunications world as an innovator who has helped emerging growth companies maximize their investments in technology,” said James Bosworth, founder and CEO, Back9Network. “Mike is another key addition as we round-out our leadership team to launch Back9Network via cable and satellite in the first half of 2013.”

Prior to joining Back9Network, Mr. Feld founded fc.com, Inc., a company specializing in the then-emerging field of remote network management for telecom carriers and enterprises. Fc.com also designed and implemented network operations centers (NOCs) and local network infrastructures for exchange carriers such as CTC, Nynex/BA, and VTel (Vermont Telephone). Fc.com was sold to CTC, one of the largest Northeast CLECs, in 2000. At CTC, Mike created the first fully remote (Voice/Data over Frame) NOC.

“The definition of a media company has changed dramatically in the past few years and Back9Network is embracing all of the new IP, Internet and ‘i-everything’ technology to best serve today’s consumer,” said Mr. Feld. “I’ve spent my career building telecom companies from the ground up and I’m excited to join Back9Network to help navigate and take advantage of constantly evolving, sophisticated technologies that will bring Back9Network to life across whichever devices or screens consumers choose to engage with us on.”

Back9Network, which made its online debut in 2012, is focused on all the things golf fans love about playing and living the game. Back9Network recently broke ground on its state-of-the-art TV studio and video production facility in downtown Hartford, Connecticut, which is quickly becoming the sports media capital of the world with ESPN, NBC Sports and YES Network also based in the state. Back9Network plans to launch its TV programming lineup via cable and satellite in the first half of 2013.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Feld served as the Chief Technology Officer of Connecticut Broadband, where he designed a statewide VOIP network. He also served as a Senior Consultant for Connecticut Broadband’s consulting division, Partner Consulting, focusing on complex voice, data and Internet applications.
