Children First Academy has a new home in Phoenix. The institution's groundbreaking celebration took place at their new 52,000 ft. facility on Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at their new location at 1648 S. 16th St. in Phoenix.

The school addresses physical, mental and emotional obstacles to education by providing services including medical, dental, professional counseling, clothing, food, hygiene items, and provides on-campus showers, washers and dryers. As all students currently live below the poverty line and 68 percent are homeless, the school adapts to each child’s unique situation and acts compassionately to educate and support homeless and disadvantaged children to become more successful members of society. The current facility serves over 300 students as well as their families while the new school will almost double the current student body.

A key supporter as well as donor to Children First Academy is Alan Ram through his personal charitable foundation, the Janeen Barber Foundation. As President of the Foundation, he has taken it upon himself to provide opportunities to those in need. “Sometimes all anyone needs is just one opportunity. Through Children First Academy, I know I am helping to provide that chance to as many children as possible. I had a challenging childhood and someone helped me out of a bad situation. Mrs. Barber gave me my opportunity and now I’m just paying it back," said Ram.

As a proud sponsor of The Children First Academy, Alan has promoted and introduced The Children First Academy to many individuals in the valley and hosted the top-earning table at last year’s fundraising event. His biggest contribution to date has been purchasing the naming rights to the gymnasium/cafeteria at the new facility that he has chosen to name after Janeen Barber.

About:
Alan Ram established the Janeen Barber Foundation in 2011. The foundation is named after his friend's mother who took him in at the age of 15 when he left the family home with nowhere to go. Through the foundation, Ram honors her influence and is inspired to provide those in need with an opportunity, or a “helping hand.” He has also served honorably in the United States Marine Corps and is currently President of Proactive Training Solutions.
