The Florida Publishers Association (FPA) recently presented its 2012 President’s Book Awards to publishers and authors whose books were selected as the best in 20 different categories.
The FPA President’s Book Awards Banquet was held at The Helmsley Sandcastle Hotel on Lido Beach, Sarasota following the organization’s two-day Fall Ed-U-Conference, themed “From Pbooks to Ebooks: Publish, Promote and Profit.” Participants attended presentations by nationally-recognized book experts and successful independent publishers in Florida.
“The award winners represent some of the very best books published by Florida writers and presses in the past year and a half,” said Chris Angermann, FPA President.
The following winners, listed by category, were selected by the competition’s 35 judges, consisting of 32 Florida librarians and three graphic designers. Up to two gold and silver medals were awarded in each of the following categories:

The overall President’s Pick Award, chosen for special excellence and awarded by FPA president, Chris Angermann, was AT THEIR DOORSTEP, The Street Fairs and Carnival Folk of Paris in Stories and Photographic Postcards, 1900s by Charlotte Perret.
In addition to a medal for their awards, all winning FPA members received a certificate and FPA President’s Book Awards labels for their book covers. This year’s winning publishers and authors came from members of the Florida Publishers Association, Florida, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Canada.
FPA is a national non-profit, and professional association of publishers, authors and others interested in book publishing in Florida.
