The Breath of Life Event was started to raise awareness and funding for cancer research in memory of Darlene Westbury Walter, a wife and mother who passed away at the young age of 51.

The Beach Company is pleased to announce that Property Management Vice President, Timothy P. Walter, Sr. has been named Co-chair of the Citizens Advisory Council of the MUSC Hollings Cancer Center in Charleston, SC. Tim Walter is the founder and organizer of The Breath of Life Event, an annual black-tie fundraiser in memory of his wife, Darlene Westbury Walter, who passed away from lung cancer on October 6, 2010 at the age of 51. Tim, along with teenage sons, Price and Cooper, and their long-time family friend, Jennifer Maddox, started this event as a way to raise awareness and funding for cancer research in memory of Darlene. The event includes a silent auction, a live cause auction and a designer fashion show. This past year's event, held in June, raised in excess of $22,000.00.
The mission of the Citizens Advisory Council is to advocate on behalf of the MUSC Hollings Cancer Center in the areas of cancer prevention, care and research; to raise financial support; and to offer support in development and long range planning, patient care, scientific policy, information and technology.
