"The enemy," he said, referring to the devil, "is afraid of prayer."

The drive to mobilize strategic intercession is heating up as more Christian ministries hear and respond to the call of the Holy Spirit for God’s people to cry out to Him on behalf of America. These ministries are urging the Church to shake off apathy and indifference about the nation’s future.
Rev. Kevin Richardson, one of the Save America Gathering organizers, noted several recent situations when praying believers have faced unusual opposition or obstacles. “The enemy,” he said, referring to the devil, “is afraid of prayer. He will fight back against it. All of the best human strategies may have little or no effect against a rising tide of evil and societal dysfunction. But when God’s people go to their knees in prayer, the power of Almighty God is released.”
The Save America Gathering, to be held Saturday, October 20, from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., is working in collaboration with the Capitol Hill Prayer Embassy to mobilize a critical mass of intercessors who will lift the country to God in prayer. The Men4Nations Capitol Hill Prayer Embassy, strategically located diagonally across from the U.S. Supreme Court and the U.S. Senate Office Buildings, was founded by Rev. Dick J. Simmons as a base of intercession for America’s seat of governmental power.
Save America Gathering organizers have offered support for Simmons’ 21-Day National MEN’s Predawn Prayer Surge from Monday, October 15, through Sunday, November 4. This “urgent call to action” seeks pastors to open their churches daily from 5-7 am during this critical time and challenge their men by leading them in crying out to God on their faces, standing on the authority of God’s true and eternal word. Simmons will be among the national leaders taking part in the Save America Gathering on the Mall on October 20. The partnership of these ministries hopes to raise both urgent intercession over the coming weeks and ongoing intercession beyond the fall season, with the goal of seeing the nation redeemed and transformed.
Simmons also has an ongoing vision to see 1 Million American men committed to early morning prayer for two hours daily, 5–7 a.m. Incorporating prayer for both America and the nations of the world, his Men4Nations ministry aims to mobilize men to join the movements of women and youth that have been praying earnestly for a decade or more. The recently renovated Men4Nations Prayer Embassy includes three condominiums: Simmons and his wife Barbara, challenged by late-stage Alzheimer’s, live in one of the condos; another is used for a strategic prayer center (including a private “War Cry” Prayer Room, office space, and a level for teaching, library, and fellowship); and the third serves as a dorm for male prayer mobilizers whenever they visit DC and are willing to give time in prayer and service. In addition, rooftop access provides a bird’s-eye view of all of Capitol Hill, perfect for producing live or taped video interviews and updates on current urgent issues facing our nation. Ten men can be housed at this location at one time, provided they are willing to pray four hours daily, including 5–7 a.m. in the prayer center and two more hours at significant sites or government hearings. Men coming to DC for the fall prayer gatherings, or at any time, who feel called to dedicate this time to intercession and service at the Men4Nations Prayer Embassy should contact
Men4Nations directly at men4nations7 (at) gmail (dot) com.
The vision to pray for spiritual renewal in America is shared by numerous Christian groups gathering this fall, including the America for Jesus rally that took place in Philadelphia September 28–29. Now, a strategic confluence of events taking place in Washington, D.C. on October 20 has highlighted the timeliness of the divine call. Simultaneously with the Save America Gathering, the African Strategic Leadership Prayer Network (http://www.aslpn.org) will assemble for prayer and fasting in front of the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on October 20. Prayer bands from Intercessors for America will be interceding on site at key locations throughout the city.
In addition, Save America Gathering participants will be joining with David’s Tent DC (http://www.DavidsTentDC.org), which is taking place right on the White House Ellipse park, just north of the National Mall. This strategic and unprecedented event, launched September 25 under the leadership of Jason Hershey, is now in the midst of 40 days of 24/7 worship of Jesus on the official White House grounds, with a purpose of proclaiming “that Jesus is Lord and should be enthroned above every area of our lives and nation,” according to their website. “While the eyes of the world are on DC this fall,” said one organizer, “it’s an opportunity to lift their eyes to the Lord Jesus Christ, the ‘Desire of All Nations.’”
All these groups and more (including Shofar Call International, Cry4Life) have endorsed the Save America Gathering and its purpose that God’s people come to Him in humble repentance, ask for His mercy and blessing on America, and reaffirm the godly covenants established by the nation’s founders.
The Save America Gathering organizers encourage those burdened about the current spiritual climate of America to link with like-minded believers—at their church or a prayer organization such as those named above—to commit to regular, fervent, strategic intercession for transformation of our nation and world. Their hope is that the momentum generated by these fall events in Washington, DC, will
continue without a pause through local and regional prayer initiatives. “Like the critical mass needed for a nuclear explosion,” said Richardson, “the prayers of a focused army of intercessors can bring massive breakthroughs for the advance of the Kingdom of God on earth.”
