VFA and Client Virginia Military Institute to Present on Managing Facilities in Support of Military Tradition and Educational Excellence

VFA, Inc., the leading provider of end-to-end solutions for facilities capital planning and asset management, today announced it will be co-presenting with VFA client Virginia Military Institute at the 61st annual Southeastern Regional Association of Physical Plant Administrators (SRAPPA) Conference, “Connections,” October 14-16, 2012 in Lexington, Va.

Peter Scanlon, vice president, professional services, VFA, and Major Richard Fletcher, P.C., maintenance reserve program manager, Virginia Military Institute (VMI), will be presenting “Managing Facilities in Support of Military Tradition and Educational Excellence” on Tuesday, October 16, at 1:45 p.m. Attendees will learn how VMI is taking a strategic approach to understanding condition, required funding and prioritization of its facilities.

At VMI, the physical environment is an important element of support for the development of cadets. Founded in 1839, VMI’s long history and proud traditions have unique implications for facilities planning and management. With the oldest buildings on the Post dating back to 1818, coupled with the demands of modern education and military preparation, VMI recently engaged VFA to conduct facility condition assessments. VMI analyzed the results in VFA’s facilities capital planning software, VFA.facility®, and identified a significant backlog of deferred maintenance.
