With a quarter of the country affected by fraud, criminals can have a damming effect on people’s personal finance.
(PRWEB UK) 13 October 2012
The latest figures from CIFAS, the UK’s fraud prevention service, have revealed that fraud has shot up by 10% with 115,000 victims so far this year alone.
66% of cases now relate directly to misuse of identify details, with the takeover of accounts seeing a 73% surge.
The figures put identify fraud more common in the UK than any other European country. 25% of Brits have been touched by this form of crime, compared to a 17% average across Europe.
There are individual financial losses reported of up to £30,000, creating a negative effect on credit ratings for victims.
With this worrying rise in identity and bank account fraud, Bristol Private Detective has announced their services to track down fraudsters.
