Attorney Diane Weinberg has joined Morgan and DiSalvo, P.C. as an Attorney Of Counsel with a focus on Elder Law. She brings an informed and empathetic perspective to such issues as special needs trusts, guardianships and conservatorships, public benefits for long-term planning (Medicaid and Veterans benefits), and general advocacy for seniors including situations of financial abuse.

Weinberg earned a B.A. at the University of Pennsylvania and her J.D. from the Emory University School of Law. After graduating law school, Diane served as an employee benefits associate for Kilpatrick Stockton LLC before becoming a senior litigation associate for Casey Gilson Leibel P.C. A member of the State Bar of Georgia, Diane served on the Editorial Board of the Georgia Bar Journal from 1999-2001, and as editor of ElderCare Matters from 2005-2006. She is a currently a member of the Academy of Special Needs Planner, the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and the Atlanta Bar Association.

Weinberg’s focus is quickly becoming one of great interest and importance in the U.S. In 1996, the Baby Boomer generation of approximately 78 million individuals began turning 50 at the rate of 300,000 per month. The Atlanta Area is not immune from this “silver” population boom. According to the Atlanta Regional Commission, the metro Atlanta region saw a 49.5% increase in the Baby Boomer population between 2000 and 2010. The region also experienced a 45% increase in the population of age 65+ during the same period. Furthermore, statistics show the new generation of “seniors” enjoys greater financial success and personal involvement in their own outcomes, making elder planning especially important.

“We are delighted to have such a talented, respected attorney acting as Of Counsel for Morgan and DiSalvo,” says Attorney Richard Morgan. “Diane’s presence will complement our estate, tax and business succession planning services, enabling us to cover much more of the spectrum of our clients’ needs.”
